Budō Matsuri
Budō Matsuri is the Czech-Japanese Association’s major event dedicated to traditional Japanese martial arts. Rather than presenting budō only through demonstrations, the festival gives visitors an opportunity to meet practitioners, learn about different traditions and try selected martial arts themselves through workshops open even to complete beginners.
The history of the event goes back to 1994–1996, when the original Budō Matsuri festivals were held. After more than 25 years, the tradition was revived in 2022 and continues today.
The event brings together different Japanese martial arts, schools and practitioners, complemented by other aspects of Japanese culture.
Budō Matsuri is organised by Budō Kenkyūkai – Society for the Study of Traditional Martial Arts, part of the Czech-Japanese Association.
