Benron Taikai 2023
The 47th annual Benrontaikai Japanese Speaking Competition will take place on April 15, 2023 from 11 a.m. in Galery Lucerna, Prague 1
Competition conditions
(1) Speech competition
The competition offers participants the opportunity to prepare and deliver a formal speech about their experiences, experiences or opinions and gain experience in public speaking in Japanese. After their speech, each contestant will answer several questions about the presented text. The expert jury will evaluate the correctness of the language used, the attractiveness of the speech and the answers, and the best participants will receive material prizes, all participants will receive prizes for participation.
Anyone learning Japanese in the Czech Republic can participate.
Beginners: CEFR A1, A2 (Common European Framework for Reference for Languages)
The participant must not have experience studying Japanese in Japan.
The winner from previous years may not participate in the same category in which he won.
Duration of speech max. 2 minutes.
Intermediate: CEFR B1, B2 (Common European Framework for Reference for Languages)
For guidance: textbooks Genki 1, 2 or Minna no nihongo shokyū I, II.
The maximum period of stay or study in Japan is 6 months.
The winner from previous years may not participate in the same category in which he won.
The length of the speech is a maximum of 4 minutes.
Advanced: previous stay in Japan is not an obstacle.

If you don’t know which category to apply for, consult your Japanese teacher. If you are self-taught and unsure of the appropriate level, please contact the competition organizer. The organizer reserves the right to transfer the contestant to another category depending on the placement in previous years of the competition, the content of the speech, etc.
(2) Written speech competition
The aim of the competition is to give participants the opportunity to write an essay in Japanese about their own experiences and thus improve their written expression. The texts will be assessed by a professional and lay jury. The best ones will be awarded.
Anyone learning Japanese in the Czech Republic can participate.

Advanced CEFR B1 – (Common European Framework for Reference for Languages)
