Don’t miss this unique opportunity and sign up for upcoming events with master Senju Einojo, a renowned Japanese lion dance artist, who, together with his student Senju Honoka, will come to the Czech Republic this summer to share his musical and dance art with us!
We are preparing a total of 3 events:
1) SENJUBUYODAN Performance and workshop
When: 27. 7. 2025 (duration: approx. 3 hours)
Where: Dance Center, Václavské nám. 36 – hall 1
What is going on: Japanese dance performance and shamisen playing + workshop: Maiko dance and singing the Gion Kouta song
Learn the traditional Gion Kouta dance and song, as performed by a Maiko (a student of Geisha), in just one day, under the guidance of master Senju Einojo and his assistant Ms. Senju Honoka!
“Gion Kouta” is the name of the song that is sung about Gion, which is a district in Kyoto.

Each participant will also receive a worksheet that explains the meaning of the song and describes the individual steps of the dance.
Price per person: 960,- CZK
The price includes: admission to the performance, the subsequent 3-hour workshop and, if necessary, dressing and renting a yukata from the ČJS
(If you come dressed in your own yukata, you are entitled to a discount of 60,- CZK)

Timetable:
- from 13:00 it will be possible to come and dress in yukata
- 14-17:00 performance and workshop
- end by 17:30.
(altogether 4.5 h = from 13-17:30)

2) Senju Honoka: Experiential Tea Ceremony Lesson
When: 1. 8. 2025 (duration: approx. 40 minutes) from 2 p.m.
Where: Na Můstku 380/8, Prague, 4th floor, tatami room
What is going on: an experiential lesson led by Ms. Senju Honoka, where participants prepare their own tea under her supervision.
Price per person: 700,- CZK
Maximum of 10 participants.
Senju Honoka began learning the Urasenke tea ceremony from childhood under the guidance of her grandmother. She is currently also involved in a project in Kyoto that offers the tea ceremony to people from abroad. The event was met with a very positive response from the audience.
At this event, we will first explain how the tea ceremony is performed, and then you will have the opportunity to see part of the tea ceremony (preparation of a bowl of tea) in action. Afterwards, you will try preparing and drinking tea yourself.
Matcha tea will be served with japanese sweets.

3) Senju: Demonstration of applying traditional make-up and dressing in intricate costume
When: 10. 8. 2025 from 14:00
Where: Na Můstku 380/8, Prague, 4th floor, tatami room
Price per person: 800,- CZK
Maximum of 10 participants.
What is going on: You will be able to watch demonstration of applying traditional makeup and putting on an intricate costume for the Lion dance.
