Japan meets baroque (at the Jemniště chateau)
The first year of the Japanese festival at the baroque chateau Jemniště, currently owned by the Sternberg family.
You can look forward to an exhibition of ikebana combined with unique glass jewelry from Izabela Sternberg’s workshop, creative workshops with japanese activities, stalls with Japanese and Czech food. A special VIP program with a private tea ceremony is also prepared.
Jemniště Chateau offers a great trip destination near Prague. In the gardens there is a pleasant ZOO and a beautiful rosarium available all year round. It is also possible to visit the chateau on guided tours, often with a special program directly with the owners. The local cafe will delightyou with original home-made game products and desserts.
As part of the collaboration with Izabela Sternberg, the owner of the Sperky Bela craft workshop, we are bringing a piece of Japan to Jemniště!
Flowers and glass form the main connecting line between the baroque castle and Japan. An ikebana exhibition in combination with glass jewelry made by Izabela will be prepared throughout the day in the passageway of the chateau. The exhibited pieces will be for sale, if you will be interested in jewelry or vases, all you have to do is make a reservation and after the event, the items will be available directly at the chateau (after arranging pick-up in Prague or sending to the address).
For Japanese-speaking visitors, we offer a special tour of the chateau with translation into Japanese at 2 p.m. Those interested can apply by 25 October 2023 at office@japan.cz or info@japan.cz
We offer a unique experience as part of a VIP private tea ceremony in the chateau lounge. We offer the ceremony at 1:30 or 3:30 p.m. It is possible to register in a group of a maximum of 3-5 people, the price of the experience for the group is CZK 3,600.
For about 45 minutes, the students of the tea ceremony of the Urasenke school will take care of you, guide you through the ceremony, explain fine details and rules and draw attention to details that are easily missed by the uninitiated, but are very important for the ceremony and can influence it in many ways. With tea, you will have the opportunity to taste fresh traditional wagashi sweets made by Japonská domácí cukrárna.
Registration for the tea ceremony is possible until 22 October 2023 at office@japan.cz
For those interested in creative workshops, we have prepared an omamori lucky talisman workshop led by Radka Müllerová, an origami workshop where you will learn how to fold paper, and last but not least, the calligraphers will write your desired character or your name in Japanese. Entrance to the workshop section is subject to a fee, the price of CZK 350 includes all the activities listed above.
The mood will also be helped by ladies engaged in Cosplay and making their own costumes. During the entire event, they will be moving around the chateau area and will be happy to help you complete unique photos. You will also be able to take pictures in the spirit of Halloween in the prepared photo corner, where Japanese ghosts will be waiting for you!
In the restaurant area, you will have the opportunity to buy small items with a touch of Japan, taste unique Nikka whiskey, homemade pastries from Nippan Bakery, fresh sushi and products for your home Japanese cuisine offered by Susi.cz. Illustrator Angry Albatros will also bring her original works, and you will be able to purchase calligraphy equipment at the Sumiko e-shop.
If you’re already planning your Christmas shopping, you’ll be able to choose from Izabela Sternberg’s glass jewelry stand, where she’ll also offer handmade candles. A stand selling honey and warm mead will be available in the manor’s courtyard throughout the day, and the owner of the Květiny na Jiřák flower shop will offer fresh flowers and the possibility of European-style embroidery.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 29.10. 2023 at Jemniště chateau
