Japanese Days at Průhonice Botanical Garden
Japanese Days at Průhonice Botanical Garden are an annual celebration of Japanese culture organised in cooperation with the Průhonice Botanical Garden and the Prague Sogetsu Study Group.
From Ikebana to Japanese Days
The history of the event is closely connected with ikebana. Exhibitions and demonstrations of Japanese flower arrangement formed the foundation of the programme, which gradually expanded to include many other aspects of Japanese culture.
Today, visitors can experience traditional music and dance, theatre, martial arts, tea ceremony, ikebana, creative workshops, lectures and activities for children. The programme changes every year and brings together Czech and Japanese artists, teachers and performers.
In 2025, the event celebrated its 15th edition and expanded from the original Japanese Day into a full weekend programme – Japanese Days.
The beautiful surroundings of the botanical garden remain an essential part of the event, creating a natural setting where Japanese culture, art and appreciation of nature come together.
