More information:
A group of teachers led by Mrs. Hieda Shigyoku will come from Tokyo to the Czech Republic to introduce the art of ikebana, also known as the “Way of Flowers” (kadō), to the Czech public interested in traditional Japanese culture and to contribute to deepening friendship between the people of both countries.
The art of ikebana is rooted in the ancient respect and admiration that the Japanese have for nature. It involves creating thoughtfully designed floral installations using scissors and other tools, seasonal flowers, and appropriately chosen vases. These arrangements evoke the image of natural scenery and also serve as a medium for expressing the creator’s perception of nature, as well as their spiritual and aesthetic values.
Hieda Shigyoku has been involved in ikebana since her childhood, when her father, Master Hieda Hógjoku, taught her. In the past, she held the position of head of the Chiba Prefecture branch of the Sógetsu School, and is currently a special member of the Ikebana Art Association and a board member of the Sógetsu School Masters Association. She has received numerous awards, including the Grand Master Akane Teshigahara Awards on the occasion of the 80th and 90th anniversaries of the Sogetsu School and a bronze medal at the World Flower Show in Xi’an, China. She is a member of the Sógetsu School’s Council of Masters and a renowned personality in her field at home and abroad. She has very extensive experience in teaching, presentations and workshops abroad, or in flower arranging for department stores and hotels, including large-scale ceremonial installations.
